Dengarden is an online magazine, with approximately 1,400,000 visitors per week, that focuses on all topics related to the home and garden. We publish user-generated content from freelance writers all over the world. Whether the topic is pragmatic or aesthetic—a handy how-to, a DIY decor project, a trend update, or a review—we want to hear from you.

Our authors adhere to our parent company HubPages’s Editorial Policy, but also try to fulfill the additional wishes described below.

• Topics that are out of the ordinary. We’ve seen many articles about how to clean a pool, but we haven’t read enough about how to turn a swimming pool into a tropical garden (or a frog pond or a bomb shelter, or even convert it to saltwater). The only way to know what subjects have already been exhausted is to search your topic on the site. If you don't see many articles on that theme, or you think you can do better, then we want to see it.
• Articles that go into detail about a topic you’re enthusiastic about. Share your passion and insider information on a subject (and hopefully your original and high quality photos)!
• Great photos! Readers come to Dengarden hoping to find helpful, artistic, and inspiring photos and other media. Especially for articles that describe a DIY project or enumerate the steps of a DIY fix, we want illustrations as a visual guide.
• Writing that is clear, polished, engaging, well-researched, thorough, and carefully organized. Although we do have editors to help you (for free!), your submission should be as good as you can make it.

• Topics that have already been thoroughly covered on Dengarden,
• Articles on subjects you have little or no firsthand experience in, including products you haven’t used (unless it’s an idea article, like 30 Ways to Make a Small House Look Larger),
• Unedited writing that is awkward, disorganized, long-winded, or has poor grammar or punctuation,
• Articles without good photos or with stock, blurry, pixelated images, clipart, or illustrations that are only tenuously related to the topic, and
• Things that were not written with passion, for the benefit of the reader, but rather seem aimed at selling something.

Q: Are writers paid to write for Dengarden?

A: Writers earn through online advertising (Google AdSense and the HubPages Ad Program) and/or affiliate referrals (displayed in the form of Amazon links). Read more about revenue sharing here.

Q: Who retains the copyright?

A: The content is entirely yours. We simply provide the technology to support it.

Q: What if my writing is not perfect?

A: We have a team of editors to help, at no cost to you. It’s our mission to help our authors maximize the readability of their articles.

Q: What if I don’t have any great photos for my article?

A: If your pictures are blurry but they demonstrate that you did in fact do the project you describe, we still want to see your article.

Q: Can I publish stuff from my blog/website on Dengarden?

A: We want original content, so if you’ve already posted your article elsewhere, please don’t submit it here.

Q: What if my article is not quite good enough for Dengarden?

A: Authors sign up on HubPages.com and pass a quality assessment there before being published. Only home and garden articles that are of the highest quality will move from HubPages to Dengarden. In other words, if the article is not appropriate for Dengarden, it will remain published on HubPages.
